Permacoat’s Solvent-Based Binder Sealer
Recent investigation by the Australian and New Zealand Standards (AS/NZS 2311:2000) has resulted in the following findings in respect to the sealing and coating of tiled roofs. Its recommendation stated that:
“Where a surface has become dull, chalky, porous or otherwise weathered, one coat of solvent-based primer or sealer should be applied.”
There are two types of solvent sealer available. The first has short oil and the second has long oil:
- The short oil is low-priced and has a drying time of 2 hours.
- The long oil is expensive and penetrates deep into the surface. With a drying or curing period of 48 hours this type of product gives a far superior foundation for the application of the topcoats.
