Re-Roofing
Another area in which we may be of service is with asbestos/tile/iron roof removal and replacement with Zincalume or Colorbond sheeting.
With the removal and replacement procedure a new secure roof is obtained. This cost would be immediately recouped with increased property value and appeal. All products used are of high grade with Corrosion Resistant tek/stitching screws being used to secure sheeting.
Note: Asbestos Roofs — 38 yrs in the industry has cemented our view that coating of asbestos roofs is not cost efficient. Current regulations with regard disturbance of asbestos fibres makes maintenance and repair to sheeting impracticable and in some cases illegal. Disposal of the asbestos, which is expensive and increasingly difficult, is included in our procedure.
Re-Roofing Procedure
- Remove and dispose of existing roof.
- Tile roof replacement requires installation of additional battens.
- Replace with BlueScope Steel Sheeting — Zincalume or Colorbond. Recommend: 0.48mm Zincalume or 0.47mm Colorbond.
- Includes replacement of all ridge capping, hip capping, barge capping, etc.
- Replace flashings in either Zincalume or Colorbond.
- Corrosion Resistant Tek Screws (rated AS 3566), coloured to match.
- Leave site clean and tidy on completion.

All work is guaranteed: 1-year on workmanship with a manufacturer material guarantee.
- Options
- Foil backed, Builders Blanket, placed on the roof battens prior to the placement of the steel sheeting serves the following purpose:
- Insulation — similar to Pink Batts helping to moderate temperature changes within the building (cool in summer and warm in winter).
- Eliminates condensation under roof sheeting.
- Decreases noise transference (rain on roof sheeting etc.).

Detailed Product Information
- The restoration & coating processes will be carried out to minimise inconvenience to occupier.
- All broken & badly chipped tiles to be replaced with matching profile tiles.
- Any broken capping to be supplied & replaced. Ridge & hip capping to be repointed using Permaflex — a special acrylic compound formulated to allow for expansion & contraction.
- Any existing leaks will be sourced & fixed with a full 12-month four season guarantee.
- Extreme High Pressure Water Cleaning (3000 p.s.i.) is used to clean the tiles enabling maximum adhesion of resin to the tile substrate.
- Due to the high toxicity of separate fungicidal treatments, Permacoat no longer participates in open air spraying. Permacoats top coats, as with most coatings, have fungicidal agents. Effective separate fungicides are harmful to surrounding vegetation because of misting & run-off into guttering & hence to soak wells & gardens. Products, such as copper sulphate, which is one of the best fungicidal washes, will cause excessive rust in gutters & downpipes.
- With no chemicals being used in our procedures the completed roof would be suitable for rain water collection if required.
- The 14 Permacoat and the 18 Colorbond colours allows for a selection from 32 fashion colours.
